I’ve always wanted to find one of these roads on my annual fall trip. A narrow, rutted, and winding dirt road that is carpeted with yellow leaves as far as the eye can see. It’s a lot to ask, but I finally discovered the road I was looking for. Found on a country road in Ridgeway, CO; this part of the dirt road is very far off the beaten path. And for good reason; this stretch of the road becomes inaccessible to drive even in my 4×4 Jeep. It’s poorly maintained – just how I like it. The road’s deep ruts, steep inclines and slick- as-snot mud wasn’t worth the risk of getting stuck out in the forest. So I opted to walk the rest of this road on foot; over a mile of glorious leaf covered tracks and a camera. Pure bliss.
